Signing a contract for snow plowing services keeps you secure...
Snow and ice management services can be challenging to deliver on, but getting into the plowing business is relatively easy. Any one person can purchase a piece of equipment and call themselves a professional, but a true snow professional will always sign a contract with clients. A good snow contract will outline the responsibilities of the plowing service, payment agreements, and key details about the property. Any contract should include:
- Scope of Work: This is the portion of the contract that lays out what the property will look like when services are complete, and when services should start. It should be as specific as possible regarding the final outcomes, and should represent the shared understanding of what the final product will be after each service.
- Payment: This should explain clearly and transparently the charges that will take place for specific services. Contract pricing ranges in nature, including seasonal, per visit, per storm or event, per inch, and per hour. The type of pricing structure should be clear, and any services above or beyond the general pricing setup (like hauling snow, special service requests, etc.).
Along with the information above, any good contract will have clearly defined language that describes who is liable for what, and how parties can both exit the contract if a disagreement occurs. No matter what, always have a legal representative review a contract before you sign it!
