Helipad Ice Melt - Liquid Urea
Discussion started by Jordan Carlson , on 20 November 06:00 PM
I have a customer that has helipads (Helicopter Landing pads). These pads must be clear of snow and ice at all times. They demand that liquid urea be used instead of any other product. What liquid urea mixture would be recommended for this?
From the research I have done, urea seems like an outdated method with lackluster results.
Thanks for your help!

I can't comment on a Urea mixture percentage, but if your client seems adamant about using liquid urea, he must be concerned with corrosion. Another liquid you can use that is far superior to urea, (lower melt temp, better anti-corrosion properties etc) I would suggest Gen 3 Runway De-icer. It's was actually made for runways and made to AMS specifications. You can find more info at www.basicsolutions.com .
