For Jim Cooper, president of Nutri-Lawn in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, the “glue that holds it all together” is Office Manager Carmel Brooker. Whether she’s providing customer service, preparing bids or keeping in touch with crews, Brooker does it all, tirelessly and with a smile.

Her flawless communication skills and calm during the storm make her an invaluable asset to the company. "You can feel her warm personality on the phone as she speaks to all our customers on a first-name basis. Carmel can answer any and all questions regarding our contracts and services, and she has the ability to put the customer at ease very quickly,” Cooper explains. “Carmel is always in control at all levels of urgency. Even if she is home during a major storm, which is common in our area, Carmel continuously checks the phones and stays in touch with the snow clearing crews.”

Brooker’s dedication doesn’t go unnoticed—by Cooper or by the crews. “Carmel treats all the drivers and operators like a brother. The guys will do anything for her when it comes to putting out fires in a crisis situation,” Cooper says. “We appreciate all she does. I can’t even imagine trying to operate our company without Carmel.”
